  1. I agree with all 5 of your accessory addons. I have each one and and can attest to the wisdom of your choices.

  2. Just a suggestion… it would be nice to post the links or product names in the comments 👍🏻

  3. My hubby and me have both been riding for 40+ yrs. We’ve found out that a good quality hydro/backpack is the best for us. If you can. Freeze your bladder pack with half the water level the night before. Keeps you cool all day.

  4. I learned just how important it is to stay hydrated on the first trip where I took a 100cc CamelBak. Before that, 8 hours on the bike in the sun would drain me, and I would collapse into my hotel room instead of going out and enjoying whatever destination it was I was visiting. Sipping off the CamelBak continually throughout the ride, however, kept me wide awake and alert all day long and through to the end of the ride, where I was able to go out and get good and drunk at the local bars like you’re supposed to when on vacation.

The next day, however, was a different story. I carried the CamelBak in my Tee bag, and I didn’t have a TourPak to strap it to once the bike was unpacked, so when I went on a day ride the following day, I couldn’t take the water. After a day of bar-hopping in 90-plus-degree sun, drinking whiskey, and eating salty bacon, I was walking from my room to my bike club’s evening dinner party when I became dizzy and weak, and my limbs all felt heavy. Of course, my wife and friends were certain I was having another heart attack, so off to the ER I went. Once they dropped a bag of saline into my arm, I was back to normal, and ready to sign out of there AMA to go back to the hotel, where all the food was gone.

So my advice is to stay hydrated, or you might miss dinner — and nobody wants that.
