  1. After test riding 3 of the picks, my last was a 2022 Pursuit Limited (bought new in Sept. of 22). One ride and I had made up my mind. As a shorter rider (5’6″), I found some thick sole boots, and my feet were flat on the ground. After installing 4″ pullback bars, and a backrest, this undoubtedly my favorite, in 58 years on 2 wheels. I’ve been riding cruisers since I was 18 and rode them until I was 61. Now I wish I had changed over much sooner.

  2. Good content, thanks. I’ve owned BMW Adventures for 15 years. Indeed great bikes, awesome on twisty two lanes, but not the anywhere near the best for highway. A few hundred miles no prob, but for full days on the slab, there are better. And, why no mention of the k1600GT/GTL?

  3. Damn dude the cheapest bike on here is 20 grand how is that “on a budget”.. after you buy the bike how can you afford to ride it anywhere..

  4. Good choices. My personal favorite for road trips is my ’97 Triumph T595 Daytona. upgraded with Race-Tech suspension, Heli Bars, a Corbin saddle and Zero Gravity double-bubble windscreen along with a few other touches, I’ve ridden it from DC-Nashville in a day, could have gone further but that was the destination. It’s made several NC and PA trips as well. My ’02 Bonnie has made several NC trips (as well as PA and a side trip into NY); home to Maggie Valley is about 550 miles, an easy day (it also has Race-Tech front suspension and Ohlins shocks, but no windscreen, upgraded brake rotors and lines so it stops as it should, and the stock saddle actually works fine with the better suspension). Longest one-day ride though was on my ’73 Yamaha TX500 (still have it, undergoing rebuild at 124,000 miles); that was Marshfield MO to Albuquerque, around 20 hours as I recall. Probably did a longer ride coming home (rode DC-LA and back, 1975), took over 30 hours though, just south of Ft. Smith AR to DC. “Luggage ‘ was an old Boy Scout knapsack tied to the seat. The things you get away with when you’re young enough not to know better ! I did look with some envy at the BMWs and other touring rigs in the parking lot at the Griffith Park Observatory the day I started for home though. BTW, I’m 71 now. Last longish trip was Oct. ’23, 1900 miles in a week (NC mostly, on the Bonnie as the Daytona had a starter issue, it made the Oct ’22 trip, similar miles). Trips to visit family in central PA are 250 miles on a fairly direct route, but I stretch it to near 400 with back roads, and I’ve done it enough that it seems like a local ride.
